Projects

We currently run the following projects

1. Ngite Climate Auditorium for coffee and cocoa stakeholders

This project is designed to disseminate climate ideas that are worth spreading.

We organize public plays, performances and presentations that are uniquely designed to convey an environmental action agenda. The performances are open to the stakeholders in the coffee and cocoa value chains who become the audience to learn and unlearn the climatic miss information in the form of performing arts and plays.

A collection of professional climate activists from different corners of the world form the presenters’ base. The venue is currently mobile and you have to check where and when the next climate auditorium would be.

2. Food security for coffee and cocoa growing communities

Climate change injustices have caused food insecurity and the associated issues of malnutrion in highly vulnerable communities. Ngite Space therefore, supports coffee and cocoa producing communities that are hit hardest by climate change catastrophes, like floods, landslides, hailstones, high heat waves and landslides, to attain adaptive capacity in terms of quality food access and affordability.

We support through community education on sustainable agricultural technologies like irrigation, and through giving physical food items to the most affected in the worst scenarios. We identify climate resilient food crop seeds that are fast maturing and supply them to households for planting. This reduces the risk of food insecurity.

We are apparently working with 100 households in Kasese district, most of them being victims of River Nyamwamba floods.

3. Women for Climate

Putting women and girls under the cooca and coffee value chains in the drive for environmental protection has potential to change the narrative.

Women are the mothers and their ethics easily get passed onto the next generations.

Therefore, Ngite Space has designed a Girls’ methodology to ensure their active involvement in environmental restoration and protection movements.

4. Responsible waste disposal

We collect domestic and industrial waste, sort it and help to dispose it in a more responsible way. The way waste is treated prior to disposal greatly determines the amount of Green House Gas emissions released. This project therefore is aimed at reducing Greenhouse Gases resulting from poor handling of waste.

Ngite Space has established a waste treatment site where waste is sorted and treated before disposal. The plastic waste is removed and changed for recycling. Under this project we aim at making use of the cradle to cradle principle, making waste a raw material for new products through cleaner production innovations.

More than 5,000MT of waste are released on a daily basis with most households and industries having less capacity to handle their own waste. They end up disposing it into landfills, wetlands, causing water, land and air pollution.

Ngite Space comes in here to enable disposal of such waste in a more responsible and sustainable manner.
